Futures & Options (F&O) are derivative instruments that allow traders to hedge risks, speculate on price movements, and leverage their investments. They derive their value from underlying assets like stocks, indices, commodities, or currencies.
Futures: A contract to buy or sell an asset at a predetermined price on a future date.
Options: A contract giving the buyer the right (but not the obligation) to buy or sell an asset at a specified price within a set timeframe.
F&O trading is available on major Indian exchanges like:
NSE (National Stock Exchange) – Index & Stock Futures & Options
BSE (Bombay Stock Exchange) – Index & Stock Derivatives
MCX & NCDEX – Commodity Derivatives
At ANS, you can trade:
✅ Stock Futures & Options – Trade F&O contracts on individual stocks.
✅ Index Futures & Options – Trade indices like Nifty 50 & Bank Nifty.
✅ Currency Futures & Options – Hedge forex risks with currency derivatives.
✅ Commodity Futures & Options – Trade in commodities like gold, crude oil, and agri-products.
Margin allows you to trade larger positions with a fraction of the total value. However, F&O trading carries higher risks due to leverage, so proper risk management is essential.
Equity & Index F&O: 9:15 AM – 3:30 PM (Monday to Friday)
Currency F&O: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Commodity F&O (MCX): 9:00 AM – 11:30 PM (up to 11:55 PM when US markets are open)
F&O trading involves risks like high volatility, leverage-related losses, and time decay in options. Risk management strategies like stop-loss orders, hedging, and proper position sizing can help minimize risks.
F&O contracts are settled either by cash or physical delivery. Stock options and futures must be settled physically if held till expiry, whereas index derivatives are cash-settled.
F&O trading is complex and carries higher risk due to leverage. Beginners should first understand market trends, margin requirements, and risk management strategies before entering F&O trades.
Futures and Options contracts in India expire on the last Thursday of every month.
If that Thursday is a holiday, the expiry shifts to the previous trading day.
