Frequently asked questions

Have questions? We’ve got answers!

In India, commodities are traded on two major exchanges:

MCX (Multi Commodity Exchange) – Metals, energy, and agricultural commodities.
NCDEX (National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange) – Primarily agricultural commodities.
ANS provides seamless trading access to both MCX & NCDEX.

Commodities are broadly classified into:

Metals – Gold, silver, copper, aluminum, zinc, etc.
Energy – Crude oil, natural gas, and coal.
Agricultural Commodities – Wheat, soybean, cotton, spices, and more.

Commodity trading requires a margin amount, which varies depending on the contract size and leverage offered. The margin required can be as low as 5-10% of the total contract value.

A commodity futures contract is an agreement to buy or sell a commodity at a predetermined price on a future date. Futures trading allows traders to speculate on price movements or hedge against price fluctuations.

Commodity trading hours differ based on the type of commodity:

MCX (Metals & Energy) – 9:00 AM to 11:30 PM (till 11:55 PM when US markets are open).
NCDEX (Agri Commodities) – 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Yes, commodity trading requires a separate Commodity Trading Account, which can be opened with ANS for free along with your trading account.

Commodity prices can be volatile due to supply-demand changes, geopolitical events, and economic policies. Risk management strategies like stop-loss orders and hedging can help minimize losses.

Margin trading allows you to trade commodities by paying only a percentage of the total contract value, providing higher leverage but also increasing risk exposure.

While most commodity traders speculate on price movements, some contracts allow physical delivery upon contract expiry, depending on exchange rules.

You can track live commodity prices and market trends directly on our mobile app 'ANS Online'

Spot Trading – Buying and selling commodities for immediate delivery.

Futures Trading – Agreeing to buy/sell at a future date at a fixed price.

Yes! Commodities can be a great way to diversify your portfolio, especially during market volatility. However, beginners should start with proper research, use risk management tools, and trade with discipline.
